Each day is a gift...some I want to return, but all of them I'm thankful for.

Frank and Wilbur

Today I killed the family pet. I hunted him down and deliberately killed him. I waited until the kids were down for their naps, so they don't yet know. shhhhhhhhh.

Before you judge me, you have to realize the pet situation in our house has taken a bizarre turn lately. Jordan has been listening to Charlotte's web (book on tape) over and OVER AND OVER. She has begun to see the "injustice" of killing a living thing...somewhat like little Fern when she intercedes to save Wilbur the pig. Today Jordan lobbied for Frank...our newest "pet"...who is (was) a fly. Yes, a FLY! With that in mind, wouldn't you try to kill the family pet?

The only good news is there is no shortage of Franks...she doesn't need to know how many of them I've killed!

  1. You make me laugh. I'm still living with the guilt of flushing the goldfish when my kids were young. It was their job to feed them and care for them. They never even looked at them and I got tired of cleaning that rotten bowl. One day I just flushed them. It took the kids days before they even noticed, but somehow I still felt guilty.

  2. And now Ginger's goldfish are now the size of small whales living somewhere in Michigan's sewer system!

Love her heart. I can relate. I let all bugs live if they're outside . . . but inside it's a matter of "safety"--at least that's what I always tell myself. : )
