Each day is a gift...some I want to return, but all of them I'm thankful for.

Face Painting Fiasco

About 2 years ago, we were at the local rodeo and they had a face painting booth. Jordan wanted to get her face painted , then didn't, then did, then didn't (decisions are a struggle)...she ended up NOT doing it and has talked about it for the past 2 years! Every time we go to someplace that has a "carnival" atmosphere, she asks if they have face painting...several have but the booths will be closed down or the line an hour long so we don't do it. I've even looked for face paint at Wal-mart and can't ever seem to find it. We're really struggling in the face-painting department here!

Today our library had a big event that included face painting. FINALLY! Jordan was beyond excited. There were only about 6 kids in line so I told Jordan we'd pick out a couple of books and go get in line. 5 miutes later there were at least 40 kids in line...ugh. Much drama and 45 minutes later, I'm sitting at the table painting faces (why not?) and Jordan is getting her face done by someone else. When she was finally done and came over she had tears in her eyes and a great little sun design on her cheek. I knew she'd been over the top excited about getting a rainbow so I asked why she changed her mind..."I didn't, I wanted a rainbow but the lady said she couldn't do one". Really? Since I already had paint in hand I remedied the situation with my amazing artistic abilities and she had pictures on both cheeks. I even added a little cloud to the bottom of the rainbow...oooooooooooooohhhh!

She loved the end result and I think face painting has lived up to everything she was hoping it would be! I know I won't always be able to solve her problems but in spite of my past face painting "failures", I felt like supermom today...just by painting a rainbow!

  1. You can stock up on all of the face paint you could ever want at Halloween in just about any store . . . even better, wait until the day after and get it 90% off.

    Excellent artistic skills! : )
